Korexican Tacos

First of all (sidenote): mashed potato omelet. Glory.

Second of all: Korean BBQ taco (yes it's real, and really good).

Ever since my boyfriend and I found out about this traveling taco truck that sold Korean BBQ tacos and burritos (veggie friendly to boot), we wanted: The Kogi Truck. They post online when they're going to be where, so we monitored and went. Yesterday it was "cold" and "rainy," but we waited in line with a couple friends and about 50 other people for the truck to arrive. 40 minutes late, the workers were putting tacos and burritos out fast, and we were eating them faster. I couldn't even stop myself to take a picture of the food for the blog. It was amazing. Tofu/kimchi/egg/potato/cheese/tortilla? Yes please.

Because it was chilly, we sped-walked to a fast food spot closeby to inhale our meals. So we're sitting there--a mutt/Caucasian, a Mexican-American, a Pakistani-American, and a Japanese guy--and we're all eating delicious Korean tacos in a dumpy El Pollo Loco. Behind us are a group of African American gay deaf guys signing to each other. It's a moment where your heart can only swell with pride. This is my home. My place. It was the marveling at the unique nature, the beauty. A reverential pause for the love of the city.

And if you're wondering how we knew the deaf guys were gay...it's because their sign language was noticeably sassy.

  1. Ok, we get it. You are tolerant towards people of different races or sexual orientation and proud about it. The rest of us are not worthy.
