Well, after about two weeks of searching, my boyfriend and I signed a lease on our new apartment yesterday morning. I'm actually pretty amazed we scored a place so quickly that is in a lot of ways an upgrade from our current spot, but far cheaper (go us).
My boyfriend and I decided the owner of the duplex/house is much like The Big Lebowski's "Dude," if he were responsible and managed a few properties--talking about how he plays guitar, how he had surgery and scored a huge bottle of Vicadin, making a compost pile in the yard. He said I have full rein of a garden plot in the back, and that we can take as many sweet grapefruit and tangerines from the trees as we want. I'm moderately freaking out about this.
So, sadly/happily, I must say goodbye to Silverlake (a neighborhood I love with my whole being) and embrace my new home, Atwater Village which is just across the LA River[bed]. It's a really cute area, with beautiful neighborhoods and more of a residential-y feel than most of Silverlake (unless you spend tuuunz of money). So I'm excited about getting a little more domestic, gardening, maybe harvesting some of my own fruits and veggies, and, most importantly, enjoying this bomb kitchen:
Woop woop!!

Wow - nice score in Atwater! I've lived in Silver Lake (I am sitting at Silver Lake Coffee as I type this) for like 16 years - RENT CONTROL RULZ :)
