This is one of my favorite times of year in LA, because these fugly trees that have been haggardly lining the streets suddenly burst with unreal purple flowers. Jacarandas! They are everywhere. They litter parked cars, streets, babies, kitties, smaller trees with their flush violet flowers.[Sorry I couldn't provide an original pic for this one, apparently iPhone cameras suck and get effed easily]
The magnolias are blooming too, as are most flowers and flowering trees.
At this point last year my former roommate and I would take walks in the neighborhood, stop and smell flowers and continuously sing the first line of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."
