Well well well

Guess who's going bankrupt like a little pussy. That's right, GM I'm talkin about you.

I take personal glee in what can potentially be a fall from power, but is at least a huge huge embarrassment. See, at one point Los Angeles (believe it or not) had a streetcar system identical to San Francisco! So did San Diego and San Jose. Yeah things were dandy in the 1940s--you could hop on a trolley and get where you needed to go, but then GM bought up the companies that managed the trolleys, burned the the cars, paved over the rails and built crappy, not dependable buses in their stead. So (lo and behold) LA became a city where everyone had to own a car to get anywhere! GM became big and made a ton of money off of commuters. And apparently they hung out with some Nazis too.

At first a crazy homeless person told one of my friends about this, and we were hesitant to believe. Then Ralph Nader (slightly less crazy) said it in a speech I heard, and finally when they repaved the street when I was living in South Central I saw the rails beneath all the tar.

So eff you GM. If it weren't for your conniving (though effective) business plan, I could be taking the trolley to work. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
