When I was a Sophomore in college I (along with a couple of other friends) applied to be a nude model for USC drawing classes. Mostly we were interested because the pay was high, $15/hr. Also, what the hell. We were young, awkwardly trying to be open about our bodies like it ain't no thang.
I submitted a nude picture, did the whole application process, watched a stupidly unnecessary office safety movie, and was officially qualified to be a nude model. Sadly I was never able to pose for a class. The organizers would always call me last minute, and my schedule was pretty packed either practicing violin or working at my job on campus. So that was the end of that youthful, inept attempt at being free with my body in the name of art...so I thought.
I got a call last night from an artist who saw my file at USC (totally thought they had thrown that shit away by now), and she said she would be interested in having me pose for an interesting art project she's doing. The girl seemed nice and passionate, wanting to create classic/Roman style art with mixed media/photos, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to help her as she wants an experienced poser.
I explained the funny situation to my boyfriend. He immediately jumped on the fact that this stranger had access to a nude photo of me--thinking it was in some sort of book made by USC that freak sex people can enjoy at their whim. Not that it's a faded polaroid that's been sitting in a file cabinet for four years. No that wouldn't be a rational first assumption or anything.

There's something very David Lynch about this whole situation. Beware. *laugh*
ReplyDeleteOnce I was in college and poor and I found an ad on the boards that offered ASU students an actual ASU job that paid like $100 a session. I totally checked it out and the job was to be a live subject for the nursing students to practice a "simple gynecological procedure." I declined. I wouldn't do that with a bag over my head.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember that ol' intrigue.
