Life Lessons

Ok, so BBC News is my major news source--specifically the "Most Read" and "Most E-Mailed." I came across the title "Girl, 14, burnt in tanning salon," thinking it's going to be especially horrible, seeing as it made BBC News and it's the 6th most read article of the day. Upon opening it I see this picture:

Girl, first of all, take off your bra if you're going to tan. C'mon. Second of all--Pointer, back me up on this--that is not a sunburn that is so bad that it warrants hospitalization. I have had burns at least 2-3 times worse when I was a child playing in the pool in Arizona. I don't use tanning booths, I think they're horrible, but this is a little much.

They put her on drip, oxygen, and gave her painkillers. Sadly, now she "must apply lotions to soothe the burns every few hours." Waah Wahh. Clearly the British don't understand sunburns at all.

I leave you with this--watchout tanners, or this could happen to you:

  1. That's not really a "sunburn" either. It's "I forgot to put on sunscreen today," "Oh, that sucks."

  2. The Welsh don't have enough sun interaction to understand.

  3. And if you're going to tan in your bra, at least tuck in the tag! :) I've had worse sunburns in my eye.
